Stay in Lisbon, Celebrate in Carmões

You should plan to land at Lisbon’s main international airport, Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS).

While our wedding will take place in the beautiful village of Carmões, we recommend that you make Lisbon your home base. To make the most of your time, consider arriving 2-3 days before the wedding. This will give you a chance to acclimate to the time change, soak in the city's charm, and explore Lisbon's vibrant neighborhoods, historic sites, and local flavors. We can't wait for you to experience Portugal!

Where to Stay: Lisbon's Best Neighborhoods

Lisbon offers an array of hotels and Airbnbs in some of its most vibrant neighborhoods, each with its own unique charm. Baixa and Chiado are centrally located, perfect for those who want to explore Lisbon's shopping, dining, and historic sites right outside their door. For a trendier vibe, Bairro Alto offers lively nightlife and local eateries, while Alfama immerses you in Lisbon’s oldest streets and traditional Fado music. Príncipe Real is ideal for those who enjoy chic boutiques and botanical gardens, and Belém offers a quieter stay with historic monuments and waterfront views. No matter where you choose, you'll find plenty to see and do just steps away.

We have, of course, planned our wedding during one of the busiest times in Lisbon! So, that means booking your hotel as soon as possible is super important. Unfortunately, none of the hotels were willing to provide us with a reasonable room block. In fact, many of the rates they offered were higher than the prices listed online.

Because of this, we strongly recommend making a hotel reservation ASAP—even if you’re not 100% sure you’ll be able to make it. Hotel prices will only continue to rise over the coming months.

In our experience, Airbnb has been an amazing and affordable option with plenty of places available throughout Lisbon. We definitely recommend exploring those listings if hotels aren’t quite what you’re looking for!

We suggest staying in Lisbon from either 17th September through 21st September, and if you’re planning to explore further, consider staying in Lisbon or heading to another nearby city after the 21st.

Here’s a list of hotels we recommend while in Lisbon:

Getting Around Lisbon

Uber is readily available in Lisbon, making it easy to coordinate airport pickups and navigate the city. Renting a car isn’t recommended; Lisbon is very walkable, and parking is scarce both in the city and at our venue in Carmões. We want you to relax and enjoy every part of your trip, from exploring Lisbon to celebrating with us, without the hassle of parking or navigating.

Wedding Day Transportation from Lisbon

The bride and groom are providing transportation from Lisbon to the wedding venue in Carmões to ensure your journey is seamless. Pickup will be from Restauradores Square at 2:00 PM in front of the VIP Executive Éden Aparthotel, making it easy for you to relax and enjoy the day. For full details about timing, transportation, and more, visit our page dedicated to The Big Day.

Because the Details Matter

We know, we know—this isn’t your first rodeo. But consider this our friendly reminder that passports are kind of a big deal when traveling internationally. Make sure yours isn’t expired and has at least six months of validity left after your travel dates (because apparently, that’s a thing).

Oh, and don’t forget to check the weather before packing! Mid to late September in Lisbon is warm and pleasant, with daytime temperatures around 79°F (26°C) and cooler evenings dropping to about 63°F (17°C). While it’s usually dry, a small umbrella could come in handy. Comfortable clothing will have you ready to enjoy the celebration.
